Minor League July 18

The first game between The County Federal Credit Union and Katahdin Trust was a barnburner.

Katahdin came out on top 2 to 0 in the end. Michael Berube had a 15 K no hitter in the win while Ricky Goupille smacked a double to help Katahdin secure the victory. Drew Cameron and Will Bridges were outstanding in the field for Katahdin. Good defensive plays for The County came from Wyatt Fullen, Tori Levesque, and Mason Young.

Minor League July 22

Friday morning’s game between Key Bank and The County Federal Credit Union ended up with a score of 14 to 8. Key Bank grasped the win with key defensive plays from Jonah Hudson, Kyler Cameron, Connor Junkins, Zechariah Morse and Jacob Sjoberg. Key Bank ended with 19 hits with doubles from Kyler Caron, Jonah Hudson and Riley Kinney. For The County Jaren Winger had a huge double while Nathan Willett helped out going 4 for 5 at the plate. Mason Young, Wyatt Fullen, Jaren Winger and Tori Levesque all played solid as an infield unit.

Major League July 22

The Elks battled back in the bottom of the fifth inning to help secure the win. Jake Kinney and Bradley Kinney both had singles to put Kiwanis up 2-0 in the top of the fifth until the Elks scored 8 in the bottom of the inning led by Grant Stewart and Logan Michaud who both had 2 RBI’s to help secure the victory. Griffen Guerrette helped his own cause smacking a double into center and did his part on the mound pitching 6 innings with 16 strikeouts. R.J. Gross also pitched well totalling 7 K’s in 5 innings. Elks won 8-2.

Pony League July 18

The last regular season game of the Pony League saw Mapleton defeat North State Image Works by a score of 6 to 4. Frank and Saul Nunez pitched Mapleton to the victory while Scott Rynold, Aaron Kofstad and Keegan Lowe all pitched well in defeat. Leading hitters for NSIW were Kofstad with a big three RBI double and Rynold who singled. Playing nice defense for NSIW were Rynold, Kofstad, Ben Buckley, Keegan Lowe, Brycen Libby, and Sam Gray.

Pony League July 22

Pony playoff action on Friday saw Mapleton defeat North State Image Works by a score of 14 to 2. Winning pitcher wins Saul Nunez and Aaron Kofstad and Scott Rynold pitched in defeat for NSIW. Leading hitters for NSIW were Rynold with two singles and Chase Norton and Kofstad each with singles. For Mapleton Connor Seward and Cody McGlin had two doubles. Saul Nunez hit a double and a single, Christian Nunez two singles, Kyle Ryder a single and Carter LaPointe a single and a double.

Softball

Ashland topped Presque Isle to win the County Championship in softball.

Ashland beat Houlton and Fort Fairfield on their way to the finals as Presque Isle got by Mars Hill and Washburn to make it to the championship game. Ashland played very well offensively and defensively, and had little resistance from the young Presque Isle team. Ashland came to bat in the bottom of the second inning tied at three. Ashland had everything going in the inning and pulled away from the young Presque Isle squad to take a significant lead. Presque Isle was held scoreless in the third as Ashland played some great defense to follow up their great offensive output from the second inning.
