MARS HILL — The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, Sept. 6, at the Aroostook Health Center.
The special speaker was Rotarian Dan McClung, Mars Hill town manager. He spoke to the group on the Comprehensive Plan that is being worked on for the town. A consultant has been hired to begin work on the plan, which will be a 10-year vision for the town. It will inventory what the town currently has in place, what goals and policies citizens want to have and the steps needed to implement the plan.
Having a comprehensive plan in place will make the town eligible for funding from various sources and have taxpayers working toward common goals.
Some of the areas that are expected to be part of the plan are the revitalization of Main Street and the pond area, economic development with new businesses, population growth and councils for tourism and recreation.
The Rotarians were asked to think of ideas for the town’s growth and bring them to the next meeting.
