Gymnastics
The Parks and Recreation Department is offering a gymnastics program for boys and girls ages four and over at the community center beginning on Monday, Oct. 3 with beginners meeting from 4-4:45 p.m. and intermediates meeting from 4:45-6 p.m.
The program will be held on a daily basis during the week of Oct. 3-7 and then will be held on Tuesdays only beginning on Oct. 11 and ending Oct. 25 for a total of 8 classes. The cost for the entire session is $35 for the first family member, $30 for a second family member and $25 for each additional member. Class size is limited so please contact Josh at 551-7059 to reserve a spot in the program.
Zumba Gold
The Parks and Recreation Department is offering a fall session of Zumba Gold at the community center from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesdays beginning Oct. 4. Zumba Gold is a fitness program specifically “designed to take the exciting Latin and International dance rhythms created in the original Zumba program and bring them to the active older adult, the true beginner participant and other special populations that may need modifications for success.” The cost is $40 for a 10-class punch card ($30 for senior citizens) or $5 for each class. Zumba
Zumba class is currently being held in Fort Fairfield at the Elementary School on Monday and Wednesday evenings form 6:30-7:30 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 9-10 a.m. The cost is $40 for a 10-class punch card or $6 per drop-in class. Pilates/Yoga
Starting on Oct. 4 there will be a Pilates/Yoga class on Tuesday evenings from 6-7 p.m. (7-8 p.m. after Oct. 11) at the Fort Fairfield Community Center. The cost is $30 per month to participate. For more information, please contact Josh at 551-7059.
Fall Foliage Luncheon Excursion
The Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a fall foliage luncheon excursion to Grammy’s Restaurant in Linneus on Thursday, Oct. 6 for all senior citizens and their guests. The tour bus will depart from Fields Lane on Main Street in Fort Fairfield at 9:30 a.m. and will return to Fields Lane at approximately 2 p.m. There is no charge for the bus transportation however each participant will be responsible for the cost of his or her own lunch. Pre-registration is required to insure an accurate request for transportation and proper reservations at Grammy’s. To register for this excursion, please call Gerald at 472-4001.
Open Gymnasium
The Community Center Gymnasium will be open to the public for evening free play basketball for all ages during harvest break, which starts on Friday, Sept. 30 and ends on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The open gymnasium hours during the break will be from 6-8:30 p.m. each night except for Tuesday, Oct. 4 (open gym 7-9 p.m.); Sunday, Oct. 9 (no open gym, co-ed volleyball) and Tuesday, Oct. 11 (open gym 7-9 p.m.)
Indoor Walking/Running
The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium is open to the public for walking and running Monday through Friday mornings from 6 a.m. to noon. All are welcome and there is no cost to participate.
Pee-Wee Soccer
Soccer for boys and girls in grades 2-3 is currently being held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3-4:15 p.m. Participants meet in the Elementary School cafeteria after school and then proceed to the small soccer field located in front of the school where the program is held. Soccer will continue through Oct. 20. Registration forms are available at school and there is no charge to participate. For more information, please contact Tom at 472-3882.
Youth Soccer
Soccer for boys and girls in grades 4-6 is currently being held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3-4:30 p.m. on the small soccer field located in front of the Elementary School. Participants meet in the cafeteria after school before proceeding down to the field. There is no cost to participate and the program runs through Oct. 19. Roller Skating
The Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a field trip to the Melody Roller Rink in Caribou on Monday, Oct. 3 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The bus will depart from the Community Center at 9 a.m. and return to the Community Center at approximately noon. The cost is $5 each which includes the use of roller blades or roller skates. Participants must be at least 10 years of age or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone in order to attend. Registration forms will be available at school.
Goughan Farm Adventure
The Parks and Recreation Department will be conducting a field trip to Goughan Farm on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Participants will have an opportunity to go on a hayride, explore the corn maze, eat an ice cream and take home a pumpkin. You must be at least 10 years of age or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone in order to attend. The cost including transportation is $7 each. The bus will depart from the community center at 9:45 a.m. and return at approximately noon. Registration forms will be available at school.
Swim at Gentile Hall
On Thursday, Oct. 6 the Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a field trip to Gentile Hall at UMPI to go swimming from 9-11 a.m. The bus will depart from the community center at 8:30 a.m. and return back at around 11:30 a.m. The cost is $2 per person. All field trips require that you be at least 10 years of age or older to attend or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone.
