Golfers take part in Potato Board tourney
MARS HILL — Before the potato harvest got underway folks who wanted to support the industry headed to the Mars Hill Country Club for the 2011 Maine Potato Board Golf Tournament held on Aug. 18.
The team of John McCrea, Niles Norton, Steve Sweetser and Tim Lynds took first gross. Tim York, Wilder York, Mark Wilcox and Jerry Flewelling won second gross. Scott and Aaron Kierstead, Ed Maynard and Lester Hersey took third gross.
Robert Clark, Barry McCrum, Brian Longstaff and Dave Spooner won first net. Second net winners are Greg, Herschel and Lance Smith and Ray Hews. The team of Seth Williams, Paul Lagerstrom, Aaron Turner and Ron Hanson took third net.
Closest to the pin winner was Ron Hanson and Aaron Kierstead and Sue McCrum took the longest drive titles. Results compiled by Tomi Henderson.
