S.W. Collins products certified
CARIBOU — Officials with S.W. Collins have announced that they received their Forest Stewardship Council Chain-of-Custody Certification through Scientific Certification Systems, which essentially means that their certified materials are tracked throughout the production process, from the forest to the consumer, including all stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution.
Company President, Sam Collins stated, “We are excited about becoming FSC certified and are able to bring to the public environmentally responsible products; we can guide the consumer and builder product choices from the foundation to the finished floors to include energy efficient materials that are good choices for the environment and economical over the long term.”
S.W. Collins officials also added that they are proud to be leaders in bringing environmentally-friendly building options to the local community.
In addition to going through the rigorous process of being FSC certified, “The Pioneer Lumber Yard” is pleased to be stocking the premium Benjamin Moore paints with their Green Promise that its environmentally friendly coatings meet and exceed the strictest industry standards. New LED lighting options and Roxul insulation manufactured from recycled slag and basalt rock are some of the new green products that can be viewed at any of the three locations in Caribou, Presque Isle or Houlton.
“The S.W. Collins Company can provide FSC certified building material products from the start of your project with framing lumber and sheathing to exterior finish trim, windows and doors, cabinetry, paints, siding and flooring,” Collins said.
The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Established in 1993 as a response to global deforestation, the FSC is a forum with voices from organizations big and small, all over the world seeking to define environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management.
