CARIBOU, Maine — Area participants in the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s Take It Outside Senior Series, recently struck out on the program’s annual day trip to the MSAD 1 School Farm in Presque Isle, where host Aaron Buzza, led the group on a tour of the farm’s cider-making process and the green house.While touring the two sites, Buzza fielded questions from the ladies regarding the apple, tomato and lettuce growing process. The farm’s guests also were able to purchase fresh native apples and tomatoes from the farm store.
Following their tour at the MSAD 1 School Farm, the group enjoyed a delicious luncheon at the Irish Setter Pub before heading to Mapleton for a horse-drawn wagon ride at Putnam’s Farm. Prior to the group’s arrival, hosts Chad and Roxie Putnam had hidden pumpkins in the field and that during their wagon ride visitors were all able to search the area for their complimentary pumpkins.
At the end of their visit everyone enjoyed hot apple cider and fresh-popped popcorn at the Putnam’s residence.
