Maine Chamber names 2012 officers

AUGUSTA — At its recent Fall Leadership Conference, the Maine Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE) voted in its 2012 slate of officers and several of its regional representatives. Together, they make up the organization’s volunteer board of directors and will serve a one-year term.

MACCE Officers: President — Steven Wallace, Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber; Vice President — Theresa Fowler, Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce; Treasurer — Bud Harmon, Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce; Secretary — Eleanor Vadenais, Wells Chamber of Commerce; and Immediate Past President — Barbara Clark, Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce.

Regional representatives: Region 1 — Aroostook County: Michael Bosse, Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce; Region 2 — Downeast & Acadia: currently vacant; Region 3 — Mid-Coast: Steven Wallace, Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber; Region 4 — Greater Portland & Casco Bay: Deb King, Greater Freeport Chamber; Region 5 — The Maine Beaches: Jim Fitzgerald, Kennebunk-Kennebunkport Chamber of Commerce; Region 6 — Maine Lakes & Mountains: Robin Zinchuk, Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce; Region 7 — Kennebec & Moose River Valleys: Kim Lindlof, Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce; and Region 8 — The Maine Highlands: Karen Cole, Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce.

“My goal for the upcoming year is to build and strengthen the traditional relationships local and regional chambers have with their business communities,” noted incoming MACCE President Steven Wallace of the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber. “More importantly, we want to identify ventures that will build new collaborations for the future. Maine’s ‘new economic reality’ demands a new set of tools be found to help local businesses succeed; I believe Maine’s chambers of commerce are uniquely positioned to meet that charge.”

“Maine’s business community is very fortunate to have strong, vibrant chambers of commerce throughout the state,” noted Dana Connors, president of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. “When I visit with other state chamber presidents throughout the U.S., I am always reminded that we are truly blessed to have such a collaborative relationship between the state chamber and the local and regional chambers. Together, Maine will remain prosperous and engaged in the global economy.”
