Rogers in running for Grammy

Jason Rogers, who was born in Presque Isle and grew up in New Brunswick, before settling in Tennessee to pursue a career in country music, can add one more achievement to his resume, recently being named to the first round of Grammy nominations for 2012.

“I took about a year off — needed some time off to think about where I wanted to go next. I came back and next thing I knew, Nikki Hornsby (executive liaison director for Cashboxmagazine.com) nominated me for the 54th annual Grammy Awards,” said Rogers. “It’s quite an honor just to be nominated.”

Rogers was named to the first ballot of the 2012 Grammy Awards in two categories: Best New Artist and Best Country Song. Voting is done by members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

CashBox Records released the self-titled album “Jason Rogers” about a year ago. The single “Breath Into Me” and his overall body of work is up for consideration by voters.

Once NARAS members vote, the final ballot, which will include the names of nominees for the 2012 Grammy Awards, will be announced sometime in February.
