Caribou – Eric H. Gove, 61, died November 17, 2011, at Caribou after defying all odds for six years and living a fulfilling, happy and joyful life following his diagnosis of cancer. He was born in Presque Isle the son of Harry and Mary (Murphy) Gove.
Eric was a 1968 graduate of Caribou High School as well as Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He was employed as an equipment operator for Brescia Construction and Soderberg Construction. More recently he was employed by the Maine Military Authority. He married Diane Aldrich June 25, 1971.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 40 years, Diane of Caribou are his mother of Houlton; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Ann Gove; daughter and son-in-law, Erica and John Raymond all of Caribou; brother, Rod Gove of Winthrop; two grandchildren, Addison and Damon, his two “four-legged grandchildren” Jake and Jett as well as his faithful companions Rocky and Sonny. Eric will also be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his extended family, the Lee Doody family of Caribou.
Friends visited with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, 12 noon Sunday until time of services. A Celebration of Eric’s life was held 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. David Sutherland officiating. Interment was in the Greenridge Cemetery.
