ACAP releases new community assessment

PRESQUE ISLE — Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP), an organization that provides services and programs that are designed to combat poverty, has completed a new community assessment for Aroostook County.

This study was conducted over the past several months and included interviews with selected leaders in Aroostook County to learn their perspective on emerging issues facing local citizens. ACAP also asked its employees what issues they see people in their communities struggling with and what agency clients’ needs they believe are unmet. A community assessment survey was conducted with agency board of directors and other advisory groups, clients and the general public. This extensive survey gathered information about respondents’ demographics and their opinions about what they saw as problems facing Aroostook County individuals and families and how they would prioritize those problems.

The Community Assessment Summary is available in the What’s New section of the homepage of the agency website, www.acap-me.org. The full assessment may be requested by contacting Susanne Sandusky, ACAP special projects manager, at 764-3721 (ext. 604) or by e-mailing ssandusky@acap-me.org.
