CARIBOU — During the Nov. 2 meeting of the Aroostook County Commissioners, Peter Davis of Davis CPS presented a summary of the audits done for Aroostook County and the Unorganized Territories, informing the commissioners that no findings were issued on any of the audits.

Davis also informed the commissioners that Administrative Assistant/Deputy Treasurer Linda Richardson does an excellent job and that he found the county’s staff to be very accommodating. Davis went over the audits with the commissioners page by page, which took just about half an hour.

County Administrator Doug Beaulieu informed the commissioners that the 2012 Health Trust rate increase for the Indemnity Plan will be 13 percent, with the POS-A Plan at 9 percent — both lower than the 15 percent increase the commissioners had anticipated.

On behalf of Executive Director of the Aroostook County Action Program, Connie Sandstrom, Beaulieu recommended that the commissioners approve six individuals to serve a one-year terms on the ACAP Board of Directors. The commissioners approved the board appointments for Otis Smith, director of the Houlton/Hodgdon Adult Education; Elaine Boulier, principal of the Fort Street School in Mars Hill; Wilfred Bell, treasurer of Aroostook County; Gary Sanfacon, juvenile community corrections officer for the Department of Corrections; and Butch Asselin, police chief of Houlton.

Beaulieu also advised the commissioners that the high bid for a 2007 GMC pickup was accepted from Roger Howland of Haynesville for $9,500 and a low bid was accepted from Babin Construction for Madawaska Lake Snow Removal in the amount of $4,700 per year.
