CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. — The University of Maine at Presque Isle took a 33-30 lead with 12:18 left in the second-half and never trailed the remainder of the way, collecting a 57-48 victory over Pine Manor College on Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The teams played a back and forth first half that saw UMPI take a 26-22 advantage into the break. In the second half, the teams continued to exchange buckets until the 16:48 mark when a lay-up by UMPI’s Renee Moore knotted the score at 30-30.
Just over four minutes later, UMPI junior Emily Pelletier of Fort Kent hit a three-pointer to break a 30-30 deadlock as part of a 10-0 UMPI run that helped the visitors take a 38-30 advantage.
Pelletier finished with a team-high 14 points for UMPI. Olivia McNally of Sherman and Rashell Saucier finished with 12 and 13 points respectively for the Owls.
UMPI moves to 1-5 overall with the win, while Pine Manor falls to 3-3 with the loss.
