AMHC recognizes service excellence with awards

CARIBOU — At the 2011 annual meeting held recently at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center, Aroostook Mental Health Center administrators recognized staff, teams, civic and business leader service excellence.  Gregory P. Disy, LCSW, CEO, and Tamara Player, LCSW, COO, presented service awards to 28 AMHC staff members representing a combined total of 365 years of service to the organization.

Greg Disy, Aroostook Mental Health Center CEO presented Lori Kilcollins with AMHC’s Vickers Award for her outstanding service excellence at the recent annual meeting and recognition dinner held at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center.

Lori Kilcollins was presented the 2011 Vickers Excellence Award for her strong commitment to AMHC’s mission and for all she does on behalf of the people and the communities AMHC serves. Kilcollins joined AMHC in October of 1999 as a residential counselor at the Aroostook Academy Group Home and was promoted to the position of program manager there in 2000.

In 2004, Kilcollins transitioned to the role of site administrator at the Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit and in that same year she attained her master’s of social work degree from the University of New England.  In 2006, she transferred to the role of therapist/consultant and has provided outpatient services in both the Caribou and Presque Isle offices, including the provision of contracted services to the Maine School of Science and Math in Limestone.  

Kilcollins also serves as the Mental Health Program functional lead and has embraced the organization’s High Performance Team model and has supported the organization by serving as an exemplary team leader, coach, trainer and mentor.   

Presenting the award to Kilcollins, Disy said that beyond the roles that she has fulfilled for the organization she has been and continues to be a go-to person for staff, referral sources and members of the senior leadership team. On several occasions, the senior leadership team has looked to Kilcollins to support a critical need of the organization and she has always accepted the challenge, found creative ways to make things work and always remained solution-focused to support the agency to be successful. Her commitment and dedication to the work, AMHC’s mission and our ultimate customers is represented in all that she does,” he said.

Civic and business leader awards were presented by AMHC’s senior leadership team and staff to the following employees.

• Norman Fournier, of Fish River Rural Health, for his commitment to working collaboratively with AMHC staff to meet the integrated health care needs of health center clients in Eagle Lake and Fort Kent; • Victoria Brayall, Maine Department of Health and Human Services, for her dedication to working collaboratively with AMHC staff in Houlton to improve the health and well-being of children in foster care; • Pines Health Services clinic staff in Caribou and Van Buren, for working with AMHC staff to serve the health care needs of individuals and families who are served by Pines;

• Houlton Ambulance crew for their immediate responsiveness to meeting the emergency services needs of children and families in the greater Houlton area; • Brian Griffin, M.D. for his compassion, commitment and dedication to supporting individuals and families in need of emergency services at Houlton Regional Hospital; • the staff at the Madawaska Family Dollar Store for providing exemplary service and support to AMHC’s Madawaska Group Home clients; • and Pam Searles for her expertise and collaborative approach to working with AMHC’s Center for integrated neuro-rehab staff to provide exemplary client service and supports.

Also • Paula Carson and MBS staff for their vigilance and commitment to working with AMHC staff to ensure organization compliance with all payer requirements, especially the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services; • Silwana Sidorczuk, M.D. for providing exemplary health care services and support to AMHC’s Madawaska Group Home clients in the St. John Valley; • Peter Goth, M.D. for his compassion and dedication to supporting Presque Isle area residents and families in need of emergency services at the Aroostook Medical Center.

• Jim Keene of the Tremont Volunteer Fire Department for is advocacy and collaborative work with AMHC staff to provide community crisis debriefing and mental health services to residents in need; • Jamie Perry, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, for her advocacy and commitment to working collaboratively with AMHC staff to provide Ellsworth residents and their families with emergency services; • Maine DHHS, Children’s Behavioral Health Services Intensive Temporary Residential Treatment Team, for working with AMHC staff to assess and improve the services and health and well-being of youth and their families in Northern and Eastern Maine served by AMHC’s Children’s Residential Programs. • Toni Stauffer of Catholic Charities for her advocacy and dedication to improving the health and well-being of children and families in Machias, and

• Carissa Taggett for her advocacy and dedication to improving the health and well-being of Fort Kent children and families.

AMHC is a non profit organization with 20 service sites located in Aroostook, Washington and Hancock counties.
