Snow Dogs to scrimmage PIHS

    The Special Olympics basketball team will get a chance to get in some real game situations over the next few weeks.

Today at 3 p.m. the Snow Dogs will scrimmage the Presque Isle High School boy’s varsity team at the high school. And on Wednesday, Jan. 4 the Snow Dogs will scrimmage the varsity girls. That game is also at 3 p.m. at the high school.

    The public is invited to attend to cheer on both teams.

Player of the Week

    University of Maine at Presque Isle senior point guard Emily Moore of has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week.

    Moore guided her team to a 2-1 record on the week including a pair of wins in the Owls’ first two home games.

Basketball and cheering

    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is accepting registrations for 5th and 6th grade basketball and 4th, 5th and 6th grade cheerleading.

    Registration will run through Wednesday, Jan. 6 and late registrations will not be accepted. The two leagues will start the week of Jan. 16th.

Athlete of the Week

    The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Matt Eager and Megan Ireland for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of Dec. 5-10.

    Eager scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the boys’ varsity basketball team past Hermon.    Ireland scored 15 points to help the girls’ varsity basketball team defeat Hermon.
