The Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for individuals or businesses for the 2011 Business of the Year; Citizen of the Year and Spirit of Caribou awards.
According to Jenny Coon, CACC director, “It is again the time of the year when we begin to plan our Annual Recognition Dinner. Too seldom do we say “thank you” to those individuals or organizations which make a difference in our community, through their investment and commitment to us.”
Criteria for Business of the Year may include: improvements which have had a positive impact on the community; improvements which have increased their value as an asset to Caribou; investments which have increased the company’s abilities to provide goods/services to our community and major achievements within the business field are also considered.
Selection criteria for Citizen of the Year may include: outstanding community service to our community; and significant service to others; above and beyond excellence in one’s own profession, business, service or enterprise.
Criteria for the Spirit of Caribou award may include some or all of the preceding areas of involvement within the city as well as other reasons.
“The annual dinner is our singular opportunity to personally thank and recognize the individuals who make a real difference in our community. Their confidence in our community is inspiring and their investment of time and energy is empowering,” stated Coon. “Together, we can make a difference — help us by taking the time to nominate a business or person you feel deserves these awards,” she added.
To submit nominations for the 2011 awards, information may be faxed to the Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce at 492-1362; or by e-mail to cacc@cariboumaine.net.
Nominations must be received no later than Feb. 29. There are no specific entry forms for these nominations. The date of the Annual Recognition Dinner will be announced at a later time.
