AUGUSTA — State Rep. Tyler Clark recently accepted his second two-year term as a member of the Aroostook County Advisory Board for the American Red Cross Pine Tree Chapter.
As a board member, Rep. Clark (R-Easton) serves as a volunteer partner on the American Red Cross leadership team at the local level. Chartered by Congress as a single-entity corporation, the Red Cross operates as a national network, with the chapters serving as local units of the corporation. The Pine Tree Chapter, with offices in Bangor and Caribou, serves 296 communities.
“I’m honored to be returning to the Red Cross Advisory Board,” said Clark, a second-term legislator who serves on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. “The Red Cross does outstanding and selfless work to help people in emergencies, and I’m proud to play a small part in the organization.”
The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. All disaster relief services are an outright gift provided by voluntary contributions. The Red Cross is not a government agency and receives no funds from any governmental entity. It relies on donations of time, money and blood to do its work.
Joyce Knorr, Aroostook County manager of the Pine Tree Chapter, said Clark is a dedicated ambassador for the entire American Red Cross, not just the local unit.
Clark was also selected to serve as the Aroostook Chapter’s representative on the Maine State Board of the American Red Cross for 2012.
