HARTFORD, Conn – Ervin E. Lenentine, 80, of Suffield, beloved husband of Marjorie (Dickison) Lenentine, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. He was born on May 27, 1931 in Monticello, son of the late John and Jean (Freeman) Lenentine.
Ervin grew up in Monticello, and was a graduate of Houlton High School with the class of 1949. He went on to serve our country with the U. S. Air Force, during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, he was married to Marjorie Dickison and together they lived in Bangor, Burlington, VT and Waldorf, MD, before settling in Suffield, CT in 1970. Ervin worked in air traffic control most of his career at Brainard Airport and Bradley Airport, retiring in 1986 from Bradley as an Air Traffic Control Supervisor.
He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. During his retirement he and his wife spent their winters in Lady Lake, FL, a winter get-away he really enjoyed.
Ervin was a kind, caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
Along with his wife of over 56 years, he leaves his children, Judith McNally of Enfield, Debra Gratton and her husband, Raymond, of East Hartford, and Roger Lenentine and his wife, Susan, of Denver, NC; sisters, Dawn Black and her husband, Lester, of Manchester and Mavis Lenentine of Simsbury; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and James McNally, Jeffrey Gratton and his wife, Jennifer, Michael, Rachel and Jason Gratton and Ashley and Melissa Lenentine; and great-grandchildren, Ekijah, Jonathan and Jeremiah. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Priscilla Lenentine of Lodi, WI; and a brother-in-law, John Dickison and his wife, Roberta, of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. He was predeceased by his brother, Franklin Lenentine.
His family received friends on Friday, January 20, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. (Rt. 159), Suffield. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in West Suffield Cemetery, with military honors.
