Softball clinic scheduled

    The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Softball team will hold a pitching and hitting clinic on March 3 in Wieden Gymnasium. The pitching session will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the hitting clinic will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The cost to participate is $20 for one session or $30 for both sessions. The clinic is open to all softball players in grades 6-12 and is an excellent opportunity for players to jump-start their softball season. Those attending the clinic must have their own gear including sneakers and a glove. For more information, call 768-9506.

 

Baseball clinic scheduled
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Baseball team will hold a three-day baseball clinic in Wieden Gymnasium March 9-11. Participants can choose to go to one, two, or three sessions and the cost will be as follows: $35 for one session, $65 for two sessions, and $85 for three sessions.  This instructional clinic will focus on the fundamental skills needed for playing the game of baseball. Session one will be held on March 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the skills being taught will include throwing and catching mechanics; fielding ground balls and fly balls; and base running. Session two will be held on March 10 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and hitting and bunting will be the topics of instruction. Session three will be held on March 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. where pitchers and catchers will be able to polish their skills. Early pre-registration for this clinic is strongly suggested. Youth races at Quoggy Jo

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Quoggy Jo Youth Races continued on Saturday.

    Results for the girls: age 7-9, 1. Emma Postell, 33.38 and 2. Lilly Hanksage, 48.26; and age 10-12, 1.  Hannah Curtis, 40.97 and 2. Cassidy Colley, 50.52.

    Results for the boys: age 7-9, 1. Chase Colley, 44.20 and 2. Jackson Maynard, 50.21; age 10-12, 1. Marcus Ouelette, 35.34 and 2. John Saucier, 35.55; and  age 13-15, 1. Ian Tuttle, 40.78.
