SPINNING — Raegan Perfitt of Houlton Elementary School tries to keep a frisbee spinning on a stick during a fun excercise during the school’s recent health fair.
The Houlton Elementary School Health Fair was held before spring vacation with a variety of presenters.
“The health fair is meant for students to learn about different health topics outside of the classroom,” said school nurse Harmony Beaton. “It focuses on health and nutrition, and anything else that may impact a child’s overall health status.”
Houlton Elementary School sponsors the health fair yearly and has outside community members who have experience in their fields come in and share knowledge with the students.
“This year, the goal was really to focus on getting the students active, and show them how much fun they can have doing that,” explained Beaton. “That was why we included the outside activities and gave the students a chance to try Zumba.”
