Benefit Raffle

A “Heart of Gold” raffle and benefit supper was held for Chris Beaton April 14 in Houlton. The winner of the quilt was Heather Graham Maker, right. With her is her daughter Alexandria Maker. On the left is Donna Shannon, sister of Beaton. The quilt raffle raised $2,222 and the winner was drawn at the benefit supper on April 14. Beaton is receiving treatment for ovarian cancer. Her sisters, Donna Shannon, Nancy Fitzpatrick, Rochelle Boulier and niece Wendy Henderson made and donated the quilt for the benefit. Other raffle winners were: one ton of wood pellets donated by the PelletGuy, won by Sher McCordic and a beauty basket, donated by various beauty professionals at Lisa’s Hair Design, won by Michelle McClure. In total, the benefit served around 500 people and raised almost $6,600, which includes the money raised on the quilt, supper and auction items.
