split in high school tennis
CARIBOU — Presque Isle and Caribou High Schools renewed their rivalry, this time on the tennis courts in Caribou on Thursday.
BACKHAND — Sara Gilson of Presque Isle stretches to return a shot against Caribou last Thursday. The Wildcat girls lost the meet, but the boys downed the Vikings.
It was a split, as the Viking girls defeated the Wildcats, 4-1, and the Presque Isle boys won, 4-1.
In the matches for the girls:
Singles — Carlee Pinette of Caribou defeated Dani Wolland, 8-0; Ashley Richards of Caribou defeated Kayla Girardin, 8-1; and Katie Keaton of Caribou defeated Sarah Gilson, 8-1.
Doubles — Alexa Massey and Erin Patton of Caribou defeated Melissa Carson and Hilary Boucher, 8-3; and Jenna Hallett and Chelsea Carroll of Presque Isle defeated Emma Duplissie-Cyr and Clara Collins, 8-4.
In the boys’ matches:
Singles — Connor Shaw of Presque Isle defeated Michael Marquis, 8-1; Osman Castro of Presque Isle defeated Tyler Willey, 8-1; and Liam Hughes of Presque Isle defeated Lucien Caverhill, 8-0.
Doubles — Zachary Gorence and Cameron Hill of Caribou defeated Drew Barrett and Freeman Short, 9-8 (8-6); and Chris Carroll and Mike Michaud of Presque Isle defeated Dylan Coty and Dustin Coty, 8-1.
