After a brief hiatus, the Miss Ashland pageants were reintroduced to the district by Ashland resident Jessica Nason, who decided to become involved because “they hadn’t had pageants in a few years and it’s such a good experience for these young ladies.” Nason, who was the 1998 Miss Ashland and served as the pageant director, said the “girls worked hard and I am excited to do it all again next year.”

As mothers and loved ones nervously stood by, the contestants scurried about backstage preparing for their exciting night. The contestants were judged in three categories: Everyday Wear, Talent and Evening Gowns. All of the contestants were fearless, lovely and talented.

Mistress of Ceremonies Michelle Eastman did an amazing job engaging the audience, at one point reminiscing about her past experience competing in a Miss Ashland pageant performing animal calls as her talent. Special guests included visiting Queens from neighboring towns and a performance by former Little Miss Ashland Mia Carney. Sponsors of the pageants were the Hornets Hometown Convenience, the Ashland Food Mart, Bessey’s Auto and Lasting Moments Photography. Proceeds from the pageant will support the Ashland Daze.
