Rec department’s summer programs begin soon

CRX schedule

Registration is under way for CRX, an outdoor-based program with an emphasis on encouraging kids to have fun while exercising outdoors. These programs are for youths in grades 5-10 unless otherwise noted.

Week one is whitewater rafting; week two is Allagash Wilderness Waterway; week three for grade 5-7 is kayaking introduction; week four is kayaking pros; week five is Wild Outdoor Women; week six is mountain biking; week seven Baxter State Park I and week eight is Baxter State Park 2.

Upon registration, all participants will be provided a detailed itinerary as well as a recommended gear list for each week’s activities. Payment is due upon registration. For additional information please call the Caribou Recreation Center at 493-4224.

Summer program booklets

Summer program booklets are now available at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. Caribou youths in grades pre-K through grade 8 have received the program booklets through their schools. Booklets are also available at the recreation office.

Registration for summer programs will take place June 13 from 6-8 p.m. for Caribou residents only and on June 14 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. for both residents and non-residents.

13-15 baseball league

Application forms are now available for the Caribou Parks & Recreation Department’s 13-15 year-old summer baseball program. A player who played last season and any new players must register each year to be eligible to play. All first year players must also bring a copy of their birth certificate. There is a $25 registration fee for each player. Applications must be returned with the fee by Friday, June 1.

Participants must be 13 years of age before May 1 and not have turned 16 prior to May 1. For additional information, please contact the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department at 493-4224.
