Houlton boys tennis finish superb season

The Houlton High School boys tennis team finished its season last Friday in Blue Hill, as they were blanked by George Stevens Academy in the Class C semifinals.
    Last Friday, the Houlton boys lost 5-0, as Zach Harvey fell to Johnny Xue, 6-1, 6-1; Lucas Anderson fell to Jasper Adams 7-6 (5), 6-2 and Cody Woods was bested 6-2 and 7-5 by Alex Heilner.
In doubles, Josh Sullivan/Ethan Nickerson were defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Roy Xue/Jason Gao, while Robby Woods/Lucas Grant were beaten 6-2, 6-3 by Nick Dillon/Ed Lameyer.
The Houlton boys faced Lee Academy in a home play-off game last Wednesday, taking a 5-0 win. Houlton’s Harvey defeated Warren Mann, 8-0, while Anderson (H) topped Nam Dang, 8-0 and C. Woods dropped Jarryd Whirty, 8-2.
In doubles, Houlton’s Sullivan/Nickerson defeated Evan Sorretsky/Carlos Vazquez, 8-2 and R. Woods/Grant (H) overpowered Ronald Tang/Luigi Pacelli, 8-3.
The Shires defeated Penobscot Valley High School in the quarterfinals, but no match results were turned in.
