Mountain bike event slated
PRESQUE ISLE — The eighth Nordic Fat Tire Festival is taking place Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, at the Nordic Heritage Center.
One of the featured events at the mountain bike celebration is the 12-Hour Epic, a race to see which team or individual can complete the most laps on an eight-plus mile course in 12 hours. The race begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and concludes at 9 p.m.
Also taking place on Saturday are bicycle safety educator training from 9 a.m. to noon, a youth race at 11 a.m., festival games and activities from noon-4 p.m., biathlon range practice beginning at 12:30 p.m. and a dirt jump rally at 9:15 p.m.
On Sunday, a biathlon race is slated for 10 a.m. and a downhill race at 11:30 a.m.
