Rotary Club shows support to local groups
PRESQUE ISLE — As part of its mission of “Service Above Self,” the Presque Isle Rotary Club supports many local charities, non-profits and other organizations in their efforts to serve the greater community. During its May meeting, the Presque Isle Rotary Club’s Board of Directors approved three funding requests.
Chosen to receive funding were:
• Washburn Boy Scouts, $340 to support a Washburn youth to attend Camp Roosevelt scout camp this summer.
• REDY … Set… Let’s Go! Youth Triathlon, $250 to support the area’s first-ever youth triathlon, to be held at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sept. 9.
• St. John Aroostook RC&D, $250 to support its annual Northern Maine Regional Envirothon, a state- and nationwide environmental competition for high school students.
The Presque Isle Rotary Club is part of a worldwide organization of community volunteers. The club, which has a membership of approximately 100, seeks to live up to this ideal by supporting a variety of causes for the betterment of the community.
