An act of compassion

To the Editor:
We want to let everyone in The County know what two amazing people we have here, Roger and Karen Folsom, otherwise known to some in the area as Karen’s K-9, are those two people.
Our family recently experienced a day we hoped and prayed would never happen but did, our son-in-law, Sgt. Daniel Rodriguez, was killed in Afghanistan serving our country. We have three dogs who have never been in a kennel before, but used Karen’s K-9 mobile services for their grooming and knew they also had a kennel. We needed to board them for our drive to Fort Drum, N.Y.
We called Karen’s K-9 a few days before leaving to find out pricing, etc. After apologizing to Karen for giving such short notice and the reason for it, Karen told us, “Under the circumstances it’s no charge.” I told her I couldn’t ask her to do that, to which her response was, “You didn’t ask, I offered.”
Roger and Karen made us and our dogs feel so comfortable, we never once worried about them the whole time we were away.
When we went to pick them up, the dogs were in their home with their own dogs and treated like their own family pets, which I am sure eased my dogs’ separation from us.
We found out Roger was a Vietnam veteran and always supports our troops even though he didn’t receive the same when he got home. So Roger, thank you for your service to your country. Both you ad Karen are true compassionate Americans! And we will be forever be grateful for your kindness to us. God bless you both!
