WASHBURN — An elderly woman sustained minor injuries July 24 when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole on Main Street.
“Mary Armstrong, 84, of Washburn, was northbound when she left the roadway and struck a pole on the right side of the street,” said Chief Doug Conroy, Washburn Police Department.
Conroy said Officer Roy Guidry, WPD, received word that an accident had taken place and responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m.
“Armstrong was driving a 2002 Ford sedan. She sustained minor injuries and was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center,” said Conroy.
The hospital had no record of Armstrong being admitted at presstime. A TAMC official indicated she was likely treated and released.
Armstrong’s vehicle sustained front-end damage and was towed from the scene. The pole was not seriously damaged.
Assisting Guidry at the scene were members of the Washburn Fire Department.
