The Caribou Public Library will be sponsoring a book discussion group beginning Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 3:15-4:15 p.m. The group will be meeting the second Wednesday of each month through May 2013.

Library Director Diane DuBois encourages those interested to attend.

“The library is delighted to be able to offer an adult discussion group as part of our services,” DuBois commented. “Having a shared reading experience through book discussions is both enriching and enlightening, especially when participants read outside their comfort zone.

“One of the things I hear most from members is that they are actually enjoying reading books they otherwise would never have chosen, which often leads to quite lively discussions! Book groups not only give readers a chance to enrich their lives through reading and sharing, but they also provide opportunities for socialization. I would encourage anyone interested in participating in the library’s book discussion group to give us a call, we love having new members in the group,” she added.

The schedule of books to be read are as follows: Sept. 12, “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet” by Jamie Ford; Oct. 10, “October Sky” by Homer Hickman; Nov. 14, “Suddenly the Cider Didn’t Taste So Good” by John Ford Sr.; Dec. 12, “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald; Jan. 9, 2013, “Two Old Women: An Alaska Legend” by Velma Wallis; Feb. 13, “Not Without Laughter” by Langston Hughes; March 13, “The Old Gringo” by Carlos Fuentes; April 10, “Fried Green Tomatoes” by Fannie Flagg; and May 8, “The Black Cat” by Martha Grimes.
