Jimmy Fitzpatrick, a senior at Houlton High School, was chosen as one of the Butch Shaw Award winners for soccer.
The Northern Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials have announced the 2012 winners of the annual Butch Shaw Award presented annually to outstanding soccer players in Aroostook County.
The award is named in memory of Clyde “Butch” Shaw, an outstanding athlete, coach and official in Aroostook County, who passed away in 1985.
Fitzpatrick, along with Ian Lee of Madawaska were Class C boys recipients, while Caribou’s Dean Walker and Presque Isle’s Jonah Stephenson were Class B award winners. In Class D boys, the recognition went to Washburn’s Nick Bragg and Wisdom’s Nate Oakes.
The female recipients of the Butch Shaw Award were: Class B, Caribou’s Olivia Sleeper and Presque Isle’s Chandler Guerrette; Class C, Fort Kent’s Alexis Desjardins and Class D, Easton’s Carla Halvorson, Van Buren’s Parise Rossignol and Washburn’s Mackenzie Worcester.
The winners were selected by the soccer officials.
