Community Market group to hold informational meeting Saturday

Have you ever thought that there might be a way to make some extra money from that garden plot or the crafts that you so love to make? Well here is a chance to be part of a growing event.
For the past five years, the Community Market has grown from the first three faithful vendors to a thriving market with over 22 part and full-time attendees. Saturday mornings, rain or shine, Market Square becomes a buzz of activity. Bakers, farmers, crafters, and cheese makers, flower and plant people join musicians and other exhibitors to draw folks to the downtown area.

This Saturday, March 9, at 9 a.m. at the Houlton Southside School, there will be an informational meeting for all interested market people. The only criteria for selling items are that the product must be grown or crafted by the individual renting space. Selling items obtained from another source is not allowed.
Coffee and pastry will be provided and the board of directors for the market, the “Market Master,” and the insurance representative will be there to answer any questions you may have.
“It’s time to start thinking spring,” said Jane Torres, executive director for the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce. “While it may be snowing outside right now, we’ll be in our gardens before you know it!”
