The Ashland Community Library has received a gift of 100 new children’s books ranging from pre-kindergarten through early readers. The books were donated by the Brownstone Book Fund, a private foundation in New York City interested in fostering early reading, a love of books and the encouragement of parents and children to read together.

ASHLAND BOOK DONATION — Sadie Trams, 2, of Ashland, and Grace Morton, 19 months, of Sheridan, enjoy one of the new children’s books donated to the Ashland Community Library by the Brownstone Book Fund. Here, the girls listen and enjoy as Pete Belskis of Ashland, Sadie’s grandfather, reads a tale.
Founded in 1997 by Diane and Clyde Brownstone, owners of Gift Box Corporation of America, the foundation sends 100 children’s books to libraries across the country each year. The books are available for all to enjoy.
Come to the library to explore and enjoy this new collection. Library hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.

Danielle Long, of Ashland, caught this nice Togue on Carr Pond recently while fishing with a group of friends. Long was the only “fisherwoman” to get a flag that day and what a flag it was. The fish weighed in at 11 pounds and was 32 inches long.
