IN CHARACTER — Seventh-grader Jordan Bonville dressed as Dartanian the Musketeer, left, while fifth-grader Lila McCrum was Clara Barton during a recent presentation at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Presque Isle.
To enhance their enjoyment of this activity, students dressed up as their character and read their monologues before an audience made up of fellow students, staff members and parents. Pre-K through grade 3 students were also invited to participate in the event by dressing up and sharing with the audience who they were and why they had chosen this person.
Students gave informative and moving presentations and were encouraged and congratulated with many rounds of applause for their effort.
This assignment and event was organized by Nancy Murphy, writing lab teacher.
