BRIDGEWATER — A pedestrian has been charged in connection with an accident on Thursday on the Bridgewater Corner Road.
“On Feb. 28 at approximately 9:50 a.m., the Maine State Police were called to a car-pedestrian incident on the Bridgewater Corner Road in Bridgewater. The crash investigation revealed that 73-year-old Wayne McMinniman of Fredericton, New Brunswick, was traveling east in his 2011 Ford SUV when 46-year-old Debbie Polchies, of Monticello, walked into the roadway,” said Sgt. Josh Haines, MSP.
According to Haines, McMinniman was unable to avoid Polchies due to the slippery road conditions and struck her with his vehicle.
“McMinniman made attempts to warn Polchies by using his horn, but Polchies was intoxicated and could not get out of the roadway in time,” Haines said.
Polchies sustained minor injuries and was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance.
“Polchies was charged with failing to yield to the right of way before entering the road,” said Haines.
Also in the vehicle was 73-year-old Donna McMinniman. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Trooper Dan Deschaine, MSP, investigated the crash.
