NEW SWEDEN – Sharon L. Bither, 66, died at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. She was born in Mapleton, ME on April 7, 1946, daughter of Gerald C. and Vella (Hughes) DeLong.
Sharon was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of New Sweden where she served as church chairman, organist, worship leader and for eleven years, directed the Covenant Café.
She is survived by her husband, Vayne, of New Sweden; her son, Christopher Hoffses and wife, Gwen, of Montpelier, Vermont; brother, Richard and wife, Claudette, of Brooksville, Florida; sister, Beverly Johnston and husband, Preston, of Caribou; brother, Brent DeLong and wife, Nancy, of Bangor; stepsons, Stephen Bither and wife, Gala, and their daughters, Meagan and Adriana of Woodland, Patrick Bither and wife, Marjorie, and their sons, Private First Class Levi (USMC), Jacob and Kevin of New Sweden, Douglas Bither and two daughters of Colchester, Vermont, and Joseph Bither of Stockholm; several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by two loving companions, Jack and Jill.
Friends and relatives may call at the Covenant Church, New Sweden on Saturday, March 16 from 12 – 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. T. Daniel Clayborne, Pastor officiating, followed by a time of refreshments and sharing in the fellowship hall. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Greenlawn Funeral Directors, 300 State St., Bangor. Gifts may be made in Sharon’s memory to the New Sweden Covenant Church Memorial Fund.
