Job Corps Honor Guard presents colors at Portland Pirates hockey game

    PORTLAND — Eight Honor Guard members from the Loring Job Corps Center traveled down to Portland to present the colors during a Feb. 1 hockey game of the Portland Pirates.
    Not only did the Honor Guard members present the national colors during the game’s opening cceremony, they had a chance to meet some of the players and staff of the Portland Pirates team.

    “The students gained a great understanding of the dedication and training required to be a member of a hockey team as well as the hard work by those behind the scenes that make sure the event goes off without a snag,” explained the LJC Honor Guard Command Sergeant Major Roger Felix, who is also the Military Prep Instructor at the school and oversees the student government association.
    “The students performed with distinction and were invited to return again in the future,” Felix added.
    Participating members in the Pirates opening ceremony included Casey Hudson, Linda Nag, Steven Cleveland, Tatina Mathurin, Thomas Martinez, James Jackson, Mederick Polius and Dylan Michaud.
