BANGOR — Teams from the East earned bragging rights in Saturday’s Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games, held at Husson University.
The East captured wins in three of the four divisions, and local players turned in strong individual performances in their contests.
The boys’ C-D game went to the East, 113-100, as Washburn’s Mitchell Worcester drained five three-point field goals and finished with 25 points.
Stephen Andrew Lewis of Fort Fairfield tossed in 13 in the win.
The West claimed its lone victory of the day in the boys’ A-B game by a score of 112-89.
In between the boys’ games, a dunk contest was held and Lewis was declared the champion.
In the girls’ A-B contest, the East scored a 119-67 triumph.
The C-D girls’ game saw the East come out on top, 74-70. State foul shooting champions were decided earlier in the day. Emily Keene of Spruce Mountain netted 49 of 50 for the girls’ title. Ireland, the Northern Region representative, was next with 45.
Colton Bivighouse of Katahdin won the boys’ competitition by sinking 45 of 50 attempts.
