The third Shiretown Invitational Basketball Tournament was played over the weekend, and when it was done, the Houlton All-stars defeated Holbrook Heat, 70-61 for the championship.
Presque Isle finished third with a 64-43 win in the consolation game over the Easton Bears.
Last Friday, Presque Isle edged Caribou, 42-37 and Houlton overpowered Hodgdon, 75-34.
On Saturday, Easton topped Hodgdon, 60-48; Holbrook dropped Dexter, 67-34; Houlton overtook Easton, 69-31; Caribou bested Milford, 51-36; Easton narrowly defeated Dexter, 42-39; Houlton overwhelmed Milford, 92-41; Presque Isle defeated Hodgdon, 43-26; Holbrook downed Easton, 73-51; Caribou beat Dexter, 55-35 and Holbrook toppled Milford, 54-32.
In Sunday’s playoffs, No. 5 Easton knocked off No. 4 Caribou, 45-38; No. 1 Houlton shook No. 8 Milford, 89-30; No. 2 Holbrook handled No. 7 Hodgdon, 62-33; and No. 3 Presque Isle downed No. 6 Dexter, 61-38.
In the afternoon sessions, No.1 Houlton topped No. 5 Easton, 78-56, while No. 2 Holbrook defeated Presque Isle, 64-51, with Houlton and Holbrook advancing to the championship round.
No. 3 Presque Isle eked by No. 4 Easton, 64-63 for third place; and Houlton defeated Holbrook 70-61 for the Shiretown Invitational title.
The Houlton boys went 6-0 on the weekend; Holbrook, 5-1; Presque Isle, 4-2; Easton, 3-3; Caribou, 2-2; and Dexter, Hodgdon and Milford were all 0-4.
