The Seminole Tribe settled in southwest Florida which was then Spain’s territory. They lived in houses on higher ground in the swamplands. Each house was assigned to a warrior who had helped the chief called Miko.

The Seminole women wore long ankle dresses. The men wore full skirts and long wide sleeved shirts that hung from their necks to their knees.

Each year for a woman’s birthday everybody would give her a string of beads and dried up macaroni they had painted.
