FORT FAIRFIELD – Philip W. Chambers, 64, husband of Arlene M. (St. Peter) Chambers, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2013, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, after an extended illness. He was born January 30, 1949, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Louis L. and Matteen K. (Farley) Chambers.
    Philip was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1967 and went on to serve his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as an accountant with D.F.A.S., Limestone for many years and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, however his greatest joy was his grandchildren. Mr. Chambers was also a member of the American Legion, Walter-Lovely Post Number 27, Fort Fairfield.
    In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by three brothers, George L., Ronald E. and Carl E. Chambers; four sisters, Daisy Monson, Betty Michaud, Molly Clark and Patricia Sebastian.
    He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Fort Fairfield; one son, Edward W. Chambers of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Tina Roderick and her husband, Les of Anchorage, Alaska; three stepdaughters, Lisa Longley and Jenny Belanger, both of Caribou, Tanya Stubbs of Connor; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger C. and Clara Chambers of Hollis Center, Edward N. and Carol Chambers of Atlanta, GA, Terry L. and Cecile Chambers of Lyman; one sister, Norma Ciesielski of Biddeford; five grandchildren, Jenna Chambers of Presque Isle, Philip Thompson of Fort Fairfield, Hanna and Christian McKenney, Sydney Roderick, all of Anchorage, Alaska; and best friend, Bob Burns of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews.
    Friends called Friday, March 29, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Rodney Chambers officiating. Friends also called Saturday from 10 a.m. to the time of service. A time of continued fellowship was held after the service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle St., Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Philip to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
