Bennett receives Principal’s Award

PRESQUE ISLE — Presque Isle High School Principal Donna Lisnik has announced that senior Amanda Bennett has been selected to receive the 2013 Principal’s Award.

Sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, the award is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.  FS-AMANDA BENNETT-DCX-SH-14
“Amanda Bennett has been a wonderful addition to PIHS,” said Lisnik. “She came here as a sophomore and immediately became an integral part of the school community. Amanda is an excellent student, a school leader, and an athlete.”
Bennett is the president of the Class of 2013, president of the National Honor Society and an active member of the debate and speech team, math team, varsity club, CIF, Youth in Government and FBLA. She has also been active on three varsity athletic teams — cross country, ski, and track and field.
“To say that Amanda Bennett is a well-rounded and talented student is an understatement,” said Lisnik. “She certainly deserves this recognition.”
Bennett, Lisnik and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor this Saturday, April 6.
The luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
