Rec prepares youth for triathlon

On Monday, April 1, the Triathlon Club began. Training will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Athletes will be swimming at UMPI after school on Mondays, running with Coach McCarthy on Wednesdays and biking with Angela McCrum and Julie French on Fridays. Athletes are training for the triathlon at UMO on April 20. Those competing in September are also encouraged to train with the club now. If you have any questions about this, contact the Rec or Jamie. Additional consents are needed prior to swimming at UMPI.
Mexican Day will be celebrated on April 16. Children will be making a Pinata. Cost will be $25 per child. Siblings may work together on the same Pinata for $10 more. Deadline for this event is Friday, April 5, so materials can be ordered.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, March 26, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special guests were the Miss Mars Hill 2013 contestants and Directors Mikala Woollard and Janine Stackpole. This year’s contestants include: Bridget Garrison, Mackenzie Hatt, Kayla Cushman, Sarah Grass and Page Fletcher.
The girls introduced themselves and informed us of their talent for the pageant and told of their future plans. They each plan to attend college to further their education.

Upcoming events for the week of April 3-9 include: Wednesday will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Crossword Puzzles at 9:30 a.m., Resident’s Council at 1:30 p.m. and United Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Thursday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., BYF Potluck Dinner at 11 a.m. and Karaoke with Fireman Fred at 1:30 p.m. Friday will feature Spring Jingo at 9:30 a.m. and Music by the Carneys at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature Bingo at 9:30 a.m. Sunday will feature Sunday Service with Jonathan at 1:30 p.m. Monday will include Moving and Memories at 9:30 a.m., Karaoke with Larry and Larry at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m.
