LIMESTONE — Helping aspiring gardeners turn over a good leaf this spring, members of the Friends of the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting an event to help green up the season.
“If you are a beginning gardener, or just sick of seeing snow out your window instead of green, then join us as we ‘Wipe Out Winter and Welcome Spring’ by starting flower and vegetable seedlings,” Friends group official said.
Lisa Fishman from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will talk about creating a garden plan, how to select what vegetables or flowers to grow, how to decode seed packets, how to mix up a suitable growing medium, and flowers and vegetables will be planted for participants to take home.
The free program is open to all ages, and will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the refuge, located at 97 Refuge Road in Limestone in the Loring Commerce Centre.
