Logging event is May 9-10

    HOULTON — The 37th annual Career and Technical Education Loggers’ Competition will be held Thursday and Friday, May 9-10 at Houlton High School. The competition will be held on the grounds of Houlton High School’s Bird Farm from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday.

    The two-day competition involves 16 events based on Maine’s logging past as well as today’s forest technology methods and safety practices. Traditional competitive events include axe throwing, log rolling, and a two-person crosscut saw competition, along with mechanized events such as a log loader event and skidder operation course.
