Several Owl athletes gain academic honors

    Nineteen University of Maine at Presque Isle athletes were named to the 2012 fall sports all-academic team by the Association of Division III Independents.

    The awards were issued to student-athletes in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and men’s golf.
    Only sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible for the awards and a minimum grade-point average of 3.5, achieved during the fall semester, is required.
    Owl athletes gaining recognition are: Philip Boody and Richard Landry, men’s cross country; Kathleen Christoffel, Carly Langley and Sarah Taylor, women’s cross country; Michael Balmer, Eric Brown, Reynold Brown and Cody Humphrey, men’s golf; Lucas Bartlett, Kyle Corrigan, Jeremy Tarr and Matthew Vick, men’s soccer; Ashley Laking, Jennifer Ouellette, Kallie Pelletier and Taylor Ussery, women’s soccer; and Randi Kaplan and Elizabeth Kofstad, volleyball.
