Principal Dale Fiske of East Grand High School in Danforth is proud to present the honor parts for the Class of 2013.
Valedictorian Emily Massey is the daughter of John and Lori Massey of Danforth. During her four years at East Grand, Massey has been the president of student council and on the yearbook staff. She was also a member of Maine Youth Voices her freshman and sophomore year, and has been involved in our school’s yearly Community Clean Up Day. Massey played soccer all four years and has participated in winter carnival activities.
Her future plan is to attend Eastern Maine Community College, where she will study medical radiography.
Salutatorian Felicia Cowger is the daughter of Garrett and Linnete Cowger of Weston. Cowger has been a busy student here at East Grand. She held the class office of president her first and third year and vice- president her second and fourth year. Cowger is the 2013 yearbook editor and a four-year participant of winter carnival. She was a softball player her freshman and sophomore years; basketball player for three years and soccer player all four years. She also played a roll in Maine Youth Voices, student council, Community Clean Up Day and was inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year. For the past four years she has played the piano and been an elf for the Masonic Lodge Children’s Christmas Party. She has taken private piano lessons from Kaye Trickey in Houlton since 2001.
Cowger will attend the University of Maine at Orono in the fall for Liberal Arts. Her official major is undecided.
First Honor Essayist Elisha Farley is the daughter of Philip and Maggie Farley of Brookton. Farley has been very involved in sports programs at East Grand. She started her basketball and softball career as an eighth grader and continued through her senior year.
During those years, she was also named captain for both teams. She also played soccer for four years. Farley has been a volunteer for the Masonic Lodge, Summerfest, and Community Clean Up Day for several years. She was elected into the National Honor Society her sophomore year. She has also been class secretary her junior year and has been treasurer for all four years. She has also been a tutor at the afterschool program and been a Pre-K Teachers Aid.
Farley will participate in the Early Childhood Development course at Washington Community College in the fall.
