The Houlton tennis teams played two matches last week against Stearns and Caribou.
In girls’ action in Millinocket, Houlton was narrowly defeated, 3-2. The Houlton girls are winless in five outings.
The Houlton wins came as Piper Flewelling (H) won by forfeit and doubles partners, Janelle Levesque/Emily Mooers (H) beat Miranda Haynes/Caryn Boutaugh 8-2.
In singles, Stephanie Decker (S) beat Caleigh Sullivan 8-1 and Leah Civiello (S) bested Tessa Winship 8-2, while in doubles, Athanasia Panakis/Bev Guay (S) topped Lauren Hogan/Lexi Bartlett 8-6.
In boys’ action, the Shiretowners earned a 5-0 win over Stearns.
Josh Sullivan (H) overtook Damean Newbury 8-5; Ethan Nickerson (H) edged Kyle Manzo 8-6; and Lucas Grant (H) defeated Noah Ingersol 8-3.
In doubles, Robby Woods/Steven Phillips (H) topped Will Leighton/Greg Hartley 8-3 and Dakota Gramour/Hunter McLaughlin (H) won 8-1 over Tom Fiske/Bronson York.
Last Tuesday, the Caribou boys defeated Houlton, 5-0.
Ethan Plourde (C) blanked Sullivan 8-0; Michael Marquis (C) shut down Nickerson 8-0 and Zac Gorence defeated Grant 9-7.
In doubles, Caribou’s Brendan Cyr/Tyler Willey bested Woods/Phillips 8-0 and Gabe Massey/Cameron Hill defeated Chris Crane/Isaiah Littleton, 8-3.
In girls’ action, Sullivan lost to Ashley Richards (C) 8-1; Winship fell to Erin Patton, 8-0 and Jasmine Hardy was downed 8-0 by Alexa Massey.
In doubles, Clara Collins/Emma Duplissie-Cyr (C) defeated Levesque/Mooers 8-1 and Makayla Bouchard/Anna Soderberg (C) downed Flewelling/June Choi, 8-1.
