Football club recruiting players
The Aroostook Huskies Football Club will hold its first official meeting of the 2013 season on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in Folsom 105 on the UMPI campus in Presque Isle.
The first part of the meeting will primarily be a recruiting meeting for players in the SAD 1 district who will be entering grades 7-12 this fall.
“This is necessary because SAD 1 schools do not allow us to come to their buildings to recruit due to concerns about losing athletes to football,” said Stuart Wyckoff, senior advisor of the club. “So, if you attend an SAD 1 school and want to play football, plan to attend this meeting and bring your parents.”
A “run through” of the upcoming season and a chance to ask questions are part of the meeting, according to Wyckoff, who added that attending the meeting “does not obligate you to play.”
A booster group for the program is being organized and will also be a topic of discussion.
