To the editor:
The May 1 edition of From Our Files in the Pioneer Times caught my eye this week.
One hundred years ago in 1913, Mr. Emmons Robinson started teaching pupils on the cornet. He taught me around 1947 and later his son Joe taught too. I was doing fairly well until I got hit in the mouth by a wild pitch from someone at the ballpark.
I ended up playing the tuba along with Gordon Cummings. Gordon did most of the playing. I just made the band look better with a tuba on each end.
I also worked at the Pioneer during my high school senior year doing town reports and on the press down in the basement. I also wrote sports for the paper. I worked some at Tracy’s Print Shop too.
