AVCC memorial tourney results
FORT FAIRFIELD — The 16th annual Memorial Day Golf Scramble, held in memory of John Gorman and Donna Kenneson, was a “huge success” according to Fort Fairfield Athletic Boosters Club President Larry Gardner.
The May 25 golf tournament was postponed until May 27, but both the Gorman and Kenneson families and friends, were honored that night during a special meal and presentation.
The annual golf tournament saw 28 teams compete in four different divisions. Winning the men’s gross title was the team of Herrick Hansen, Les Smith, Brian Shannon and Dave Garnett. In the men’s net division, the team of Tom Towle, Himie Towle, Steve Towle and Peter Towle was victorious.
In the mixed division, the team of Larry Gardner, Marilyn Gardner, Matt Cummings and Libby Cummings took top honors, while in the women’s division, the team of Glennys Heath, Dani Searles, Jan Beaulieu and Sandra Beaupre placed first.
The longest drive winner for women was Sue Towle and the men’s longest drive went to Bob Russell.
The evening’s annual auction brought in over $4,000 for such items as Bangor Auditorium seats, sports packages, Adirondack chairs, grilles and many other items.
The proceeds of this tournament go to the Fort Fairfield Athletic Boosters Club in their continued support of athletics at Fort Fairfield Middle/High School.
“This tournament has grown tremendously since our first year. We want to thank everyone who in one way or another helped make this even another huge success,” said Gardner. “All of our sponsors really do a great job for us in donating money and prizes, which help make this event so popular.”
